RHIInsulating

Insulation keeps your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer. We specialize in new homes and retrofitting single and multi-family homes with insulation. We have the industrial equipment required to dense pack exterior walls with the proper insulation.

R-value

Insulation performance is measured by R-value — its ability to resist heat flow. Higher R-values mean more insulating value. But not all R-values act the same when installed in a home. In order for Insulation to offer its advertised R-value there can be no air passing through it. As a result we always seal attics, walls and other air leaks before installing insulation.

In Wisconsin, attics should be insulated to an R-value = 50. In hollow exterior sidewalls an R-value = 14 can be achieved, but only when properly dense packed with professional equipment. Basements, foundation sill boxes and crawl spaces should be insulated with a minimum R=10. Sorry, but those fiberglass batts on top of your basement foundation are causing you to lose a lot of energy!!!

US Department of EnergyAir Sealing

Many air leaks and drafts are easy to find because they are easy to feel — like those around windows and doors. Unfortunately, the penetrations in attic floors, basements, and crawlspaces are usually bigger problems. Sealing these leaks with closed cell spray foam will have a significant impact on improving your comfort and reducing utility bills. It stops the cold air from invisibly cooling your walls. Exhaust Fans

Proper ventilation is important to reduce unwanted moisture and odors without allowing heat to flow up and out the vent 24 hours a day in the winter. Choosing the proper fan or fan/light equipment is the first step. Properly installing, wiring and venting the exhaust to the exterior of the building is the second step.
